WWI Honor Roll

We are pleased to announce that the Buchanan County Fair will be hosting the State Historical Society of Iowa’s WWI HONOR ROLL the entire week of the fair!

The WWI Honor Roll, a traveling display from the State Historical Museum of Iowa, features thousands of names and corresponding photos collected by the State Historical Society from Iowa families who lost loved ones during the war—a tribute to a generation of Iowans who sacrificed their lives to the cause of freedom.

  • COSTFREE with paid admission to the fair

In addition to the display being at the Fair, Heartland Acres Agribition Center in Independence will be hosting the wall July 21 – August 8, 2025.

The Buchanan County Fair Association would like to extend a huge thank you to the team at Heartland Acres Agribition Center for agreeing to host the WWI Honor Roll for three weeks following the week of the fair. Without their partnership, this would not be possible. THANK-YOU!!!
